ERIK DOREY is a veteran political strategist, communications director and legislative aide. His work on U.S. Senate campaigns for three consecutive cycles put him in the thick of some of the biggest races in the country, serving as chief spokesperson and director of communications, digital and research teams for statewide campaigns.
Erik got his start on Capitol Hill early in the Obama administration, working for the House Committee on Science and Technology before becoming a Legislative Assistant advising a subcommittee chairman on housing, civil rights and judiciary issues.
From there, Erik worked for the DCCC on a special election in Oregon, serving as Communications Director for the state's democratic party, where he learned the ins-and-outs of a state party apparatus.
As Press Secretary for Sen. Claire McCaskill in 2012, Erik steered the senator's messaging and earned media efforts in a storied campaign, where improbably they won despite her status as the cycle's most vulnerable incumbent. Erik's next position, Deputy Campaign Manager for Sen. Mark Pryor, saw him directing not only the communications team, but also research and digital, with a key role in the campaign's paid media strategy. In the same role for Sen. Chris Van Hollen, Erik's strategic acumen helped to establish his candidate as the early frontrunner in Maryland's competitive democratic primary.
